Banterflix

Banterflix is a lively weekly film review programme hosted by Jim McClean, featuring rotating guests who discuss the latest cinema releases, streaming recommendations and regional screening events. Regular contributors include Zara Jackson, Joe McElroy, Nicole Hamilton, Alan Meban, Amy Bainbridge, Jess Blair and others. Episodes cover current films ranging from blockbusters to indie releases and reissues.

The series also runs seasonal director spotlights – summer 2026 focused on Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton, James Cameron and Steven Spielberg – tracing their most iconic works alongside contemporary reviews. Additional segments include ‘Pick of the Streams’ for home viewing suggestions, discussions of genre fare from horror (Super Girl, Obsession, Back Rooms) to franchise sequels (The Mandalorian and Grogu, The X-Files), and a wrap‑up highlighting local cinema events across Northern Ireland. Through its informal conversational format, Banterflix serves both film enthusiasts and casual moviegoers seeking guidance on what’s worth watching.
