Belfast Unfiltered

Belfast Unfiltered offers unvarnished, close-up looks at the people and organisations shaping the capital. Episodes span a wide range of community and cultural life: the work of the Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich and the Glór na Móna choir in keeping Irish-language culture vibrant; Northern Peacebuilders’ Máire Braniff and David Mitchell on their community projects; and the Royal Ulster Academy on the city’s architectural heritage.

Other programmes visit Syrian women at the Footprints Women’s Centre, explore community wealth building and Open Arts’ creative initiatives, and capture major civic moments including the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations and the ‘Take Back the City’ event. Art and performance feature too, in episodes such as The Ghost Limb. Through this varied selection, the series presents a portrait of Belfast that extends well beyond the usual narrative – showing how residents and local groups are actively building a shared public life.
