Dander Through My Life

Dander Through My Life profiles distinguished Ulster‑Scots community members across Northern Ireland. Presenter David Scott visits each guest in their hometown, conducting reflective conversations that weave together personal history, career highlights and the local landscapes that influenced their journey.

The series features Baron Tom Elliott of Ballinamallard in his native Fermanagh, Rev. Trevor Boyd discussing his path from Pomeroy farm to the ministry (and a surprising family business), historian and former journalist David Hume recounting his upbringing in Ballycarry, and Alicia Dickson Hamilton sharing her 21‑year career as a Drum Major alongside family and community involvement in County Down’s Kinallen. Recorded January–February 2025, the programme emphasises heritage and resilience – how place shapes identity and how individuals contribute to their communities over decades. It’s part oral history, part local portrait, celebrating people whose lives embody Ulster‑Scots culture in action.

David Scott is in the County Down village of Kinallen this week with Alicia Dickson Hamilton, talking about family life, community involvement and an impressive career as a Drum Major spanning 21 years.
