Oor Ain Folk features warm, personal conversations with people whose experiences reflect the heart of community life. Host Mike Gaston guides discussions that centre heritage, profession and personal journey.

The series opens with Helen Mark MBE reflecting on her 38‑year career in radio and television, including presenting BBC’s Open Country and the Ulster‑Scots programme Kintra. Her interest in people and their stories led to an unplanned but remarkable path in broadcasting. Episode two features Lee Reynolds, Commissioner for the Ulster‑Scots and Ulster‑British Tradition, who recounts hearing the term ‘Ulster‑Scots’ at school and developing a lifelong fascination with the language’s history – ultimately becoming an advocate for Ulster‑Scots culture.

Recorded February–March 2026, the programmes combine intimate storytelling with cultural reflection.
