Taisce na Tíre (Treasures of the Land) is an Irish‑language children’s series produced in partnership with Gaelscoil Éanna, an Irish‑medium school. Across five programmes released between September and December 2015, different classes explore aspects of Irish heritage and the natural world.
The series covers Ainmhithe (Animals), in which P1 and P2 classes receive a visit from Debbie Nelson of TACT with some furry friends; Plandaí agus Bláthanna (Plants and Flowers), where P3 investigate the flora growing around them; Seandálaíocht (Archaeology); Daoine Stairiúla (Historical People); and Stair Shóisialta (Social History).
The format follows the pupils’ own curiosity – children asking questions, visiting specialists and discovering their environment and heritage in Irish. It’s classroom‑led educational television, with the school’s students doing the investigating on camera.
